Mountain Bike in Patagonia and Chile with Steve Lehman Tours

THIS TRIP IS AMAZING!         Our Crossing of the Andes is by Catamaran and Mountain Bike. This is a perfect Mountain Bike Trip for the Road Cyclist, as over half of the riding is on asphalt and the other half is mainly on hard packed gravel roads. We have had mountain bikers and roadies, alike, join us on this trip from fit-recreational riders to National Champions. Follow this up with an incredible stay in Buenos Aires and you will have experienced a trip that will remain among your fondest memories. Why not join us?

Day to Day Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival and Orientation - Transfer from Bariloche Airport to the View Boutique Hotel in Bariloche overlooking beautiful Lake Nahuel Huapi with the Andes as a backdrop. You will soon understand why this area is called the "Switzerland of South America". After check-in we will have a tour of the facility and orientation. Cyclists are encouraged to take a 20+km shake down ride along the lake. Non-cyclists are free to do a more extensive investigation of our hotel, reconnoiter Bariloche or just relax.
Dinner will be early this evening. At the end of this long day we will enjoy our first dinner together and offer a toast to the great week we have ahead.

UNBELIEVABLE ADVENTURE

Day 2: Bariloche to Petrohue - 45km - Type of Road: Hard Packed Gravel
Transfer from the hotel to our awaiting catamaran and sail Lake Nuahuel Huapi for two spectacular hours to Puerto Blest. Here we will disembark and ride to Laguna Frias where we will take our second voyage (only 45 minutes ) to Puerto Alegre. Here we will depart for our actual crossing of the Andes. You will be amazed by the beautiful vista along the way to include Tronador Glacier. Don't forget your passport. We will be crossing the border into Chile today. . .on our bikes. How cool is that? Later we will arrive at spectacular Petrohue Lodge and a our first taste of Day 3: Petrohue to Ensenada / Osorno Volcano - 70km - Type of Road: 30% Gravel and 70% Asphalt
Today we will cross Todos Los Santos Lake for our assualt of fantastic Osorno Volcano. This snow capped, Mt Fuji-like, summit will test our climbing legs, but the reward will be an adrenaline-filled descent down to the shores of Llanquihue Lake and the four-star cabins we will call home for the evening.

Day 4: Ensenada to Puerto Varas to Puerto Montt  - 50km - Type of Road: Asphalt
We have an early start in the morning to ride to Puerto Montt bordering Llanquihue Lake with an incredible view of Osorno Volcano the entire way. We will pass Puerto Varas, a beautiful, mountain village, with it's German-style buildings and spectacular view. The town is truly from a fairy tale.
In Puerto Montt we will stay at the very upscale Holiday Inn Express on the harbor where we will spend two nights.

Day 5: Puerto Montt  - 50km - Type of Road: 30% Asphalt and 70% Gravel. Today we will ride to Puerto Varas and Frutillar. The gravel road that borders the lake is quiet with almost no traffic and landmarked by the lake with the everpresent Osorno as a backdrop. I promise, you will not tire of this overpowering vista. Our ride will also traverse picturesque countryside, beautiful proberties, happy free-roaming livestock and fertile fields.
This evening we will enjoy our farewell dinner (to Chile) maybe some Curanto, a Chilean equivalent of Paella (without rice), and a nice Pisco Sour to top it off.                                                                   Day 6: Puerto Mont to Bariloche  - We have the morning off to shop, visit the famous fish market or the Handcraft Fair of Anglemo. In the afternoon wwe will board the bus that will take us back to Bariloche. Enroute we will pass Osorno for the final time, pass through Puyehue, cross into Argentina through the Cardenal Samore Pass and onto Bariloche. This evening you will have a free evening to experience Bariloche's restaurants and clubs on your own.                                                                                                     Day 7: Bariloche to Buenos Aires - The morning will be at your leisure. Then around noon we will transfer to the airport and on to Buenos Aires. - Upon arrival in Buenos Aires we will transfer to the hotel in the fashionable Recoleta District. After a brief orientation you will be be free to discover first hand why this beautiful, cosmopolitan and sophisticated city is referrred to as the "Paris of South America."                                                                                      Buenos Aires - After breakfast you will have the day to explore and enjoy the neighborhood of the Recoleta with its French designed parks, the Craft Fair in Plaza Francia, Art Museum or famous Recoleta Cemetery. We will also provide an exclusive shopping trip to a fashion leather factory. d included VIP seating at one of Buenos Aires' most famous Tango/dinner shows, it is simply the most fabulous end to a great tripcity on your own
Tonight we will put on our glad-rags and enjoy a posh Tango/Dinner Show with VIP seating in one of BA's most popular tango theaters.
BBuenos Aires and Farewell  - Our final day in Argentina is not a lost day. Since our flight home is late in the day you will have the morning to do more siteseeing, do some last minute shopping or just have a nice leisurely breakfast. The choice is yours. You'll hate to bid the doorman and Buenos Aires farewell.
